What is our role?
We are an independent body set up by the UK Parliament. Our aim is integrity and public confidence in the democratic process. We regulate party and election finance and set standards for well-run elections.

Electoral Registration Officers' performance
We have published our first analysis of Electoral Registration Officers' performance (PDF) against the standards set in July 2008. We have also launched a new web tool to view the results. For more information see our news release.
Our five year direction
We have recently published our Corporate plan 2009-10 to 2013-14. It sets out our direction over the next five years and outlines the activities and resources that will enable us to deliver our aims and objectives. Our key priorities are effective regulation of party and election finance, ensuring transparency and integrity; and making sure that elections and electoral registration are well run.
Political Parties and Elections Bill - latest
During the Public Bill Committee debate of the Political Parties and Elections Bill it was suggested that the Commission should provide Parliament with a paper on its proposed future enforcement policy, based on the changes proposed in the Bill, to help inform further debate.
