We welcomed the publication of the Scottish Government’s consultation on the independence referendum on 25 January and reiterated that our priority is to ensure any referendum is well run, transparent and focused on voters.

We have produced a Media Handbook jointly with London Elects for the Mayor of London and London Assembly elections on 3 May 2012. It sets out the rules for candidates and what will happen before, during and after polling day.

Great Britain's electoral registers 2011
We have published a research report on Great Britain's electoral registers, providing current national estimates of the completeness of registers in England and Wales and estimates of the accuracy of registers across Great Britain.
Peter Wardle, Chief Executive at the Electoral Commission, emphasised the need for the electoral community to work together to bring individual electoral registration about effectively in a speech at the SOLACE elections conference.
