There is no deadline for registering as a recognised third party. However, third parties must do so before incurring any expenditure that would result in the party exceeding the spending limits for third parties (i.e. £10,000 in England and £5,000 in each of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Failure to do so is an offence under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.
