Advisory opinions
An advisory opinion is formal guidance on specific practical issues.
They are reserved for complex, significant matters requiring legal consideration. They are issued at the Commission's discretion. We may also issue advisory opinions proactively where we believe the law is open to misunderstanding or misapplication.
Advisory opinions may be published in this area. We do not publish all advisory opinions issued, as an opinion may contain confidential or sensitive information.
