Circulars and alerts

We issue circulars and alerts to electoral administrators on a regular basis. 

Circulars are used to:

  • issue formal guidance
  • request information to fulfil statutory duties

Prior to 24 November 2004, circulars were also used for other purposes, such as alerting administrators to our new publications and campaigns.

Alerts are used to:

  • alert recipients to an announcement, publication, event or opportunity
  • advise on the progress of legislation or policy development
  • solicit non-statutory information or responses
  • advise of action taken by other persons or bodies
