Through the New Initiatives Fund (NIF) we gave grants to innovative projects across the UK. The projects aimed to increase involvement in the democratic process and raise awareness of elections and systems of government.
The NIF scheme is now closed.
The final awards were made in January 2006. Since its launch in October 2002 we considered 198 applications, of which 63 were approved for funding.
When each project finished, we published a final evaluation report in order to share good practice and lessons learnt. These evaluations have been grouped together by target audience and by the type of work, so you can easily find the reports you are interested in.
Links to pages can be found below: on each page are brief descriptions of the projects which fall under that heading and links to the evaluation documents.
In addition we have produced some guidelines (PDF) for organisations thinking of running similar projects. The guidelines pull together learning from many of the NIF projects and should help you when planning your own projects or events.
