We run public awareness campaigns to promote voter registration and provide information on electoral events. This area contains information about the various public awareness campaigns we have carried out recently.
All of our public awareness work is underpinned by research. This ensures that what we do is based on sound evidence and takes account of what the public think, and know, about politics and voting. It helps us to understand why people don't register to vote and allows us to target our work to different audiences.
Our public awareness role is set out in more detail in Section 13 of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.

DVD on registering to vote
We have put together a short DVD explaining electoral registration. The film covers why you'd want to register and how to fill in the registration form, in a light and humorous way. It's ideal for use in schools, community groups and youth clubs and is suitable for a range of different groups, including young people and people with lower literacy levels. It also has subtitles in 14 different languages and a BSL version to ensure that it is as widely accessible as possible.
