Northern Ireland campaigns

Our campaigns in Northern Ireland follow a different strategy from campaigns in Great Britain. This is due to the need to deliver specific voter information for Northern Ireland that is different from that required for Great Britain.

The ‘Secure your vote, or lose your voice’ campaign features people who are about to voice their opinions on a given issue, but, because they are not registered to vote a red sticker appears over their mouth, preventing them from having their say.

Initially the campaign was used to provide information about registering to vote as part of the 2006 annual canvass of electors. This was the last annual canvass in Northern Ireland before the introduction of continuous registration.

The campaign was run again in the run-up to the elections to the Northern Ireland Legislative Assembly in March 2007 and also in the Autumn of 2007 to remind people that they needed to re-register if their details had changed.
