Voluntary Service Belfast ran the Young Citizens in Action project using a variety of ways to encourage young people to vote in the 2003 Northern Ireland Assembly elections.
Women into Politics ran two projects aiming to increase awareness of and participation in the democratic process with women who have suffered disproportionately as a result of the conflict in Northern Ireland:

- The Elections Politics and Governance: a special dialogue for young women
Public Achievement set up the Where Is My Public Servant? (WIMPS) project: a website to increase young people’s involvement in democracy.
