We have been working in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) since 2005 to address under-registration amongst members of the Armed Forces.
Each year a campaign is run in support of the annual canvass period to provide information to Armed Forces personnel and their families about registration, voting and elections. The current campaign, will run between October and November and is built on the experience of previous campaigns, it will include:
- sending our combined service voter registration leaflet and application form to service personnel in 5,000 military units across the world
- registration days held in each unit led by a dedicated Unit Registration Officer
- PR and advertising in service broadcast and print media; and information on our and MoD's websites
- additional guidance and tools, such as promotional posters and resource CDs delivered to all units
- encouraging local authority Electoral Registration Officers to work with service representatives to encourage registration
