A UK general election was held on Thursday 6 May 2010 with local elections taking place on the same day in some parts of England.
The campaign aimed to encourage all eligible people to register to vote in time for the elections and included advertising on TV, radio, press and online. The central theme of the campaign was ‘Make sure nothing stops you voting’ and an invisible barrier concept was used to show how not being registered prevents people from voting.
In Northern Ireland, we ran a separate campaign with a different creative because different requirements apply to the voting process. This included a second voter information phase reminding people that they needed to take a valid form of ID to the polling station.
