Political parties whose gross income and total expenditure is below £250,000 are required to submit their statement of accounts within four months of the end of their financial year.
Accounting units whose income or expenditure is above £25,000 are also required to send the accounts to us.
Parties and accounting units whose income or expenditure is above £250,000 are required to ensure their statement of accounts is audited and have to submit it within six months and seven days of the end of their financial year.
Viewing statements of accounts
All statements of accounts we publish can be accessed through the Statements of accounts index available in Excel (XLS) and Adobe (PDF).
- The index provides direct links to all party and accounting unit accounts submitted since 2002.
- Click on a party's name to view the party's details.
- Click on the year to access the accounts. When the year is highlighted in pink, the statement of accounts was submitted late; yellow means income and/or expenditure are above £250,000; orange means the statement of accounts was over the £250,000 threshold and was submitted late.
- A blank entry may indicate:
- the statement of accounts was not submitted
- the accounts are above £250,000 and are therefore to be submitted at a later date
- accounting units whose income and expenditure is below £25,000 do not have to submit accounts
- the party or accounting unit was not registered at the time
- the statement of accounts may not be due in yet
- the party has de-registered
- Parties and accounting units that fail to submit by the statutory deadline automatically incur a civil penalty.
- The index will be updated with further accounts submitted throughout the year.

Disclaimer
- We publish statements of accounts on our website in accordance with Schedule 46 and Schedule 5, Paragraph 7 of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act (PPERA) 2000.
- Legislation requires the Commission to 'as soon as reasonably practical after receiving the statement, make a copy available for public inspection'. We publish all accounts within twenty working days of the deadline. Accounts received late are published within twenty days of receipt.
- The fact that a statement of accounts has been placed on the public record should not be taken to indicate that we have verified or validated it in any way.
- The content of some statement of accounts may not conform to best practice as outlined in our statement of accounts guidance notes. Some political parties and accounting units do not adopt the suggested format and fail to give adequate detail in their reports.
- Any views expressed within the statement of accounts and published on our website should not be viewed as being endorsed by us in any way.
- The quality of scanned images can be variable; while all should be legible, there can sometimes be imperfections that arise in the scanning process.
