September 2011: Direction to EROs to report performance

In September 2011 we issued a Direction to EROs in Great Britain (DOC) to report against their performance. EROs were required to submit their assessment form (XLS)  and data collection survey (XLS) by 16 December 2011. Following the analysis of returns we will publish our latest report into performance of EROs in Spring 2012.

August 2011: Report into failing EROs

We have published a report into EROs who have failed a performance standard in all three years. We have also published a list of all 45 EROs who have failed a performance standard in all three years and the outcome of contact made with these EROs.

April 2011: Report on ERO performance following 2010 annual canvass

Our third annual assessment of ERO performance shows electoral registration services are improving ahead of the forthcoming elections and referendum on Thursday 5 May, but some can still do better. View the report on 2010 performance against standards below >

Background and performance standards framework 

In March 2008 we published a consultation paper on performance standards outlining draft performance standards for EROs. We sought views and comments on both the overall set of performance standards and the definition and format of individual standards. You can view both the consulation and the response below.
