Electoral registration data collection
In September 2007 we wrote to all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) asking for their assistance in completing an electoral registration performance data return to support the development of performance standards for EROs. We received returns from 403 out of 407 EROs - ensuring that the information used to inform the performance standards was as robust and comprehensive as possible. The initial analysis report (PDF) and the electoral registration data (XLS) were published in May.
Election and referendum data collection
In April 2008 we issued a baseline performance survey which outlined nine initial performance information collection areas for all Returning Officers (ROs) who held local governament and GLA elections in May 2008. We received returns from 195 out of 207 ROs, which represents an overall response rate of 94%.
The election data (XLS) has now been published and we have used this data to inform the development of the draft performance standards for ROs which we are currently consulting on. Please see our elections and referendums page for details regarding this consultation.
