We have published a report assessing the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the elector register in Northern Ireland. The report finds that while the register is generally accurate, more work needs to be done to encourage registration among certain key groups.

Our role

Our work in Northern Ireland includes:

  • regulating party and election finance in Northern Ireland
  • making the public aware of how to register to vote and what they need to do at elections
  • providing advice and guidance to candidates and agents before elections
  • researching key aspects of the electoral registration process in Northern Ireland

We ensure that the views of stakeholders in Northern Ireland contribute to all aspects of our work. This ensures that distinctive procedures and practices in Northern Ireland are taken into account and reflected in Commission-wide activities.
