Our consultations

We are keen to give you a chance to shape our thinking - your say is important. You can find more information about current opportunities to get involved in our work below.

Examination of the structure of electoral administration in the United Kingdom (March 2008)

On 31 March 2008 we published our issues paper on the structure of electoral administration in the UK.

The issues paper provides a basis for consideration of a series of key issues relating to the administration of elections in the UK. We seek views and evidence which supports or challenges our analysis of the need for change. The deadline for submission of responses is 23 May 2008.

Consultation on draft performance standards for Electoral Registration Officers (March 2008)

On 26 March 2008 we published our consultation on performance standards for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).

The consultation paper outlines the draft performance standards for EROs and seeks views and comments on both the overall set of performance standards and the definition and format of individual standards. The deadline for consultation responses is 20 June 2008.

The registration of party descriptions (March 2008)

Under changes to legislation in 2006, political parties are now required to register their descriptions for use on ballot papers at UK elections. Since these changes, during the May 2007 elections, the use of certain descriptions by political parties attracted some confusion and controversy among stakeholders.

We are seeking to explore whether the registration of party descriptions can be improved and welcome your views or concerns on the questions raised in our consultation paper.
