Welcome to your Vote week
The elections on 6 May 2021 in Scotland and Wales will be the first opportunity many young people will have to vote.
To provide schools with a focus point for political literacy and encourage registration amongst young people, Welcome to Your Vote week will take place from 22 to 28 February 2021 in Scotland and Wales.
Resources and support are available to teachers and educators to help them deliver political literacy sessions to young people who will be eligible to vote, including our new Welcome to Your Vote learning resources.
You can also download social media graphics and other resources to raise awareness amongst the young people you work with.

Teacher information sessions
Teachers are also invited to attend one of the upcoming online sessions to find out more about the resources and tools available. These sessions are open to teachers and educators across Scotland.
Welcome To Your Vote – Teacher Information Sessions
Wednesday 17 and Tuesday 23 February, 4pm to 5pm
This session, hosted by the Electoral Commission and the Scottish Parliament Education Service, will provide information on some of the tools available to teachers to develop young people’s political literacy, including the Electoral Commission’s new ‘Welcome to Your Vote’ resources. You can register for one of the sessions online.

Train the trainer : The Senedd, elections, and me – how to engage with first time voters

Suitable for secondary teachers, college lecturers and youth workers, join the Electoral Commission and the Senedd’s Education and youth engagement for this train the trainer session which will explore how to communicate the Senedd’s role, powers and work of its Members to a young audience, including how to vote. register online.
The Senedd, elections and me : Workshop for young people and youth groups
Tuesday 23 February 18:00 - 18:45
Suitable for young people 14 – 25 years old, join the Electoral Commission and the Senedd’s Education and youth engagement team for a workshop on the Senedd’s role, it’s powers and how to vote. With the introduction of votes at 16 at the 2021 Senedd elections, this will be an invaluable session to engage first time voters with the election process, including how to register to vote.
