Am I eligible for a postal vote?

Postal voting is available on request for all elections in England, Scotland and Wales. You do not need to give any reason for wanting a postal vote.

You can apply to vote by post for a particular election, a set period of time or for all future elections. You can also vote by post if you are abroad on election day. But you must be registered to vote first. Please visit more details on registration and to download a postal vote application form.

In Northern Ireland, different arrangements apply and you are only eligible for a postal vote if you meet certain criteria. You can find out more information by contacting the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland on 0800 4320 712 (freephone) or 028 9044 6688 if calling from outside the UK.
