All the changes that we've made to the site have been based on feedback that we've received in the past. We're really keen that the site keeps evolving to meet our visitors' needs so your feedback is essential in letting us know what works well for you and what could work better.
The changes we've made
Changes to the navigation
We know that many visitors to the website come to the site to look for content based around very similar themes but from very different points of view. So our starting point was to make the navigation audience-led to lead visitors straight to the content that is directly relevant to them. But much of our content is also not audience specific, and that's where we used the 'Find information by subject' area to group content together by subject. Finally, 'Our work' contains all the information relating to our role, what we publish, our views, and information about how we are run.
Changes to the look and feel of the site
One of the key changes we wanted to make to the site was to make the text larger, and to create a cleaner, more open feel with a wider site. We've reduced the information on the homepage to focus on the content that we know visitors are coming to the site for and we've stripped down the menus on all pages.
Have you seen the site on your mobile or tablet yet? As more and more people are browsing the internet on mobile devices, it is essential that the site is as accessible on smart phones and tablets as is it is on your desktop computer. That's why we've adopted responsive design, which means that the layout of the site will automatically adapt depending on whether you're accessing the site on your mobile, tablet, laptop or desktop.
We are committed to the provision of a bilingual service in Wales. Our statutory Welsh Language Scheme sets out our commitment to provide our services in Welsh in accordance with the Welsh Language Act 1993, and the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011. In keeping with this, we have developed a fully bilingual site which means that the Welsh version of the site completely mirrors the English version. This means that when you select ‘Cymraeg’ in the top right corner of the site all menus will be in Welsh, and all content that is relevant to Wales will be available on the site in Welsh. There is some historic content that has not been translated but we will continue to develop the Welsh site in parallel to the English.
