Resources
These resources do not reference a specific election on 5 May, so can be used in any area in England.
We also have resources available which do not reference a specific polling day, so can be used year-round.
You may wish to use these resources if public health measures apply in your area as we approach polling day.
If you require the artwork files for these resources, please email your request to our partnerships team: partners@electoralcommission.org.uk
Easy read and pocket guides for voters
Ahead of May's elections we have worked with United Response and Mencap to create easy read guides for voters in England. We have also worked with RNIB England to develop a pocket guide for blind and partially-sighted voters.
In partnership with Mencap, we have developed a series of easy read booklets to help those with a learning disability understand how to take part, register and vote.
We have also worked with United Response to produce easy read guides explaining how to fill in the different ballot papers voters might get at the elections in May. These include sample ballot papers that voters can use to familiarise themselves with the layout of the ballot paper in advance of voting.
In addition, we have worked with RNIB England to create a pocket guide for blind and partially-sighted voters. It explains what elections are taking place, how to take part and what support voters can request at polling stations.
British Sign Language (BSL) explainer videos
We have worked with the British Deaf Association on a series of BSL videos for Deaf and Hard of Hearing voters in England. The videos provide voters with information to help them vote with confidence at this year’s elections. They cover what elections are taking place, the different voting options available and what support and adjustments Deaf voters are entitled to.
These resources are specifically for the council elections in Scotland on Thursday 5 May, and include an animation which explains how the voting system works.
We also have resources available which do not reference a specific polling day, so can be used year-round.
You may wish to use these resources if public health measures apply in your area as we approach polling day.
If you require the artwork files for these resources, please email your request to our partnerships team: partners@electoralcommission.org.uk
