Guidance for Candidates and Agents at UK Parliamentary general elections in Northern Ireland

Applying for a copy of the electoral register and the lists of absent voters

Copies of the register and lists of absent voters can be obtained from the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland.

EONI Secure Data Transfer

EONI have implemented a new process for accessing personal identifiable data. All users will need to follow this process from 1 November 2023 to gain access to EONI data.

Overview:

  1. Anyone requiring access to EONI data will need to request that EONI set up a personal user account via the EONI Secure Data Transfer Account Request online form.
  2. Staff in EONI will review the data in the online form and:
    •    if approved will set up an account and email the URL, account name and password to the requestor
    •    if not approved, EONI will be in contact with the requestor
  3. Approved users can now log into the secure EONI site and see the relevant data as required.

Alternatively, if you require a paper copy of the electoral register this can be requested from the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland website and picked up at your nomination site.

In the event that you do not complete the nomination process the Chief Electoral Officer will ask you to return the register / absent voters’ list. For more information see our guidance on restrictions on the use of the electoral register.
