Conservative Party leadership contest
Summary
We have no official role in internal party elections, including leadership elections.
Party membership and voting
The rules and process for voting in internal party elections are a matter for the party. We do not have a role in this process.
Read the current rules for election of a Conservative Party leader from the House of Commons Library.
The Conservative Party has also published a series of leadership election frequently asked questions.
Donations to candidates
We regulate political finance in the UK, and the usual rules around donations and loans apply in these elections, as at all other times. If these rules are not followed, we will, as usual, consider the matter in line with our Enforcement Policy.
Candidates can only accept donations from permissible sources. Find out more about donations and loans
