Welsh Ministers have a duty to provide for a scheme of financial assistance to help disabled candidates in Welsh elections overcome barriers to their participation in those elections that are connected with their disability. As a result of this duty legislation has been introduced to establish a financial assistance scheme operated by Disability Wales to support disabled candidates overcome the barriers to their participation in elections in Wales.
