Appointment of sub-agents

Election agents may appoint sub-agents to act for them in any part of the police area.

Notification of any sub-agent appointment must be made to the PARO by the fifth working day before the poll.1

Upon notification of a sub-agent’s name and address, the PARO must publish a notice setting out those details, the name of the candidate, and the part of the police area within which the sub-agent is appointed to act, as soon as possible.

The PARO will provide you, as LRO, with a copy of the notice and you must publish that within your voting area.

The PARO must update and republish the notice if any sub agent’s appointment is revoked, or an agent dies. When this happens the PARO must provide you with a copy of the updated notice, and you must republish the notice of election agents in your voting area.2
