Conclusion of the count and finalising of local totals for London-wide Assembly Member and Mayoral elections

The local totals of the number of votes given at the London-wide Assembly Member election and the Mayoral election must be finalised and sent to City Hall at the same time as the Constituency Assembly Member election is declared.

You must forward the statements of local totals to the GLRO as soon as practicable after the statements are ready,1 to allow for the local totals to be aggregated. The statements must contain:

  • o    does not contain an official mark
    o    votes given for more than one party or individual candidate
    o    voter identification
    o    unmarked
    o    void for uncertainty 
  • number of votes given for each registered party
  • numbers of votes cast for each individual candidate

  • number of ballot papers used
  • number of rejected ballot papers
  • numbers of votes given to each candidate

As soon as the GLRO has received the local totals from across the Greater London area, the GLRO must ascertain the total number of votes given in each of the contests to each candidate / party

The GLRO will declare the results for the London-wide Assembly and the Mayor of London elections once all the constituency counts have been completed.
