The UK Government’s proposed legislation on electoral integrity included in the Queen’s Speech proposes significant changes to the electoral and democratic system. The measures will impact on the UK’s voters, the wider electoral community and on the democratic system.
The Commission has provided advice and evidence to officials in the Cabinet Office, where requested, to inform development of the measures. We will provide briefings for parliamentarians as they consider the Bill’s contents, impact and benefits during the passage of the Bill. For provisions passed into law, we will work towards successful implementation, and will support the electoral community – including administrators, parties, campaigners and voters – to understand and prepare in good time for the changes this Bill will introduce.
