May 2026 elections: resources for candidates and agents at a Senedd election

As set out in bulletin 396, we have been developing a new set of digital resources to support candidates, agents and nominating officers to complete nomination papers to stand for election.

We have published two new animated resources which provide an overview of the nomination papers to be completed to stand for election to the Senedd:

  • ‘completing your nomination papers as an individual candidate’
  • ‘completing the nomination papers for party list candidates’

These resources are intended to complement your briefings and written support to candidates, agents and nominating officers. Please share these links with prospective candidates and agents.

These resources are the first in a new programme of work we want to deliver to help provide guidance in different formats. We are keen for feedback to help us refine and develop future resources. We will be seeking feedback on the resources in our post-poll surveys and will provide links to these in a future Bulletin as usual.

If you have any queries or any feedback, please contact the Wales team on [email protected].

Polling station handbooks and quick guides order form

We are now collecting orders for hard copies of polling station handbooks and quick guides  for use at the May 2026 elections.

The deadline for completing the online order form is Friday 16 January 2026. We will be printing to order so it is important that you provide us with your figures by the deadline. Please note that once you have submitted your order form, you will not be able to amend your order yourself.

If you need to make any changes to your order, please contact  [email protected].

Delivery of the hard copies is expected to be by mid-March 2026, but we will confirm the timing of the delivery in a future bulletin.

Welcome to Your Vote Week 2026

Welcome to Your Vote Week 2026, our annual week celebrating democratic education, takes place Monday 9 March to Sunday 15 March. We invite local authorities, schools, youth groups and anyone who works with young people to get involved.

With thanks to the brilliant ideas of our youth voice network, we’re pleased to announce that the theme for Welcome to Your Vote Week 2026 will be ‘Why Voting Matters’.

Discover the difference voting makes and how young people can have their voices heard. Educators in your area can use our impartial resources to explore why voting is important to their students and young people and to discuss the impact their vote can have on their everyday life.

The week is an opportunity to discuss the importance of voting and democracy in your area. Explore questions like 'What issues are important to you?', 'What are different levels of government responsible for?' and 'How could your vote make a change?'.

Visit our website to learn more about the week and for activity inspiration.

Please support the week in your area by spreading the word in your networks and by holding your own Welcome to Your Vote Week event. We’d love to hear your plans – email us at  [email protected] or share on social media with #WelcomeToYourVote.

Sign up now to be part of the week and receive your free digital resources.
