Before you apply

The deadline to apply for accreditation on the electoral observer scheme in time for the 7 May polls is 27 April. Whilst we may process and accredit applications received after this date, this cannot be guaranteed.

Before you apply, you must make sure that everyone who will be observing has read the:

Code of Practice for observers
electoral observers privacy notice
guidance for electoral observers

You should also make sure that those observing know what is expected of them and what they can expect on polling day.

Once we have accepted your application, we will email you and ask you for a passport-style photo for each person’s observers pass. This photo must:

clearly show the observer’s head and shoulders
include one person, the observer, and no one else
show them with their eyes open
be taken against a plain, light background

We will also ask to see a form of ID.
