Stories from polling day
Find out what it’s like to work on polling day from people who have worked at past elections.
Andrea is a returning poll clerk
Simply put, voting matters.
The reasons why people come into the polling station to vote can be very different.
I feel privileged to help voters and make sure the voting process runs as smoothly as it possibly can.
It’s a long day, but very rewarding, and time goes quickly. Before you know it, the polls have closed and votes are taken off to be counted! It’s great working as part of a team and you get to meet lots of people from across the community.
This work is addictive and I’ve worked every year since 2018. The bonus is payment for the day’s work!
