Guidance for Candidates and Agents at Police and Crime Commissioner elections

Submitting your nomination papers

It is your responsibility to ensure that your nomination papers, including the consent to nomination and the home address form, and where you are standing of behalf of a party, the certificate of authorisation and emblem request form if required, are delivered to the place specified on the notice of election by 4pm, 19 working days before the poll.1

Who can deliver the nomination papers?

Only a limited number of people may deliver your nomination form and home address form.2

These are:

  • yourself
  • your election agent (provided you have given notice of appointment to the PARO or the notice is submitted when the forms are delivered)
  • the proposer or seconder shown on the nomination form

There are no restrictions on who can deliver your consent to nomination, certificate of authorisation and emblem request form,3  but you should ensure that you, your agent or someone you trust does this, so you can be sure they are delivered to the PARO in time.
