There are no particular qualifications needed to be an election agent and you can be your own agent if you wish.However, the following people are not allowed to be election agents:1 the Returning Officer (RO), or a member of their staff (including any clerks appointed specifically for the election)a deputy or clerk of the RO, or a member of their staffan officer of a local authority whose services have been placed at the disposal of the RO a partner or clerk of any of the aboveIf you are standing on behalf of a party, they may also have specific rules about who you can appoint as an election agent. 1.
