Introduction
We have a range of resources to help you raise awareness of the rules around postal and proxy voting with your audience.
The resources cover the following:
- The need for voters to reapply for a postal vote every three years if they wish to continue to vote by post
- The requirement for identity verification when applying to vote by post or by proxy
- The limits on how many people one person can act as a proxy for
- Applying online to vote by post and for some types of proxy vote
- The restrictions on handing in postal votes at a polling station, for both voters and campaigners
Postal vote reapplication resources
These resources are designed to:
- Remind voters that postal vote applications must be renewed every three years
- Highlight the upcoming deadline - anyone who applied on or before 30 January 2024 must reapply by 31 January 2026, or their postal vote will expire
The resources include posters, an A5 flyer (England only), social media graphics, template posts and a web banner.
Other postal and proxy voting resources
These resources were developed following the Elections Act 2022 and the changes it introduced to postal and proxy voting. They are designed to help local authorities, Electoral Registration Officers, and other partners communicate these changes clearly to voters.
The resources include: posters, a flyer, a press FAQ, social media graphics and template posts, web banners, and template copy for websites and newsletters.
