We appreciate that some ROs may be reviewing their risk assessments in light of the UK terrorism threat level being increased to severe. Security advice is available from government and policing leads, and your Commission team will be ready to provide advice and support on managing unforeseen circumstances at short notice.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the coming days and to thank all those involved for the significant work in preparing and delivering the election. As always, we recognise and appreciate the significant amount of work that has been undertaken. The important work you do remains vital to ensuring that voters are able to take part safely and confidently, and that those votes are then counted in a way which delivers results that are accurate and can be trusted.
Understanding campaigning rules: new webpage for voters
Following reports from administrators about public queries on the use of the electoral register and personal data in campaigning, we have published a new webpage on the voter-facing area of our website.
The webpage explains what is and isn’t allowed, including a link to specific information on how personal data can be used in election campaigns. We hope this will be a useful resource for you to share with voters who have concerns around their data being used for campaign purposes.
