Commenting on the launch of a new inquiry into the work of the Electoral Commission, by the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee, an Electoral Commission spokesperson said: 

“As an independent body accountable to three of the UK’s parliaments, scrutiny of our work is an expected and welcome means of identifying and implementing improvements. We look forward to working with the Committee and discussing with them our work and important role in the UK’s electoral and democratic system. 

“This inquiry will enable to us to bring the Committee’s expertise to bear on our work ahead of an important year for the Commission, as we oversee a complex set of elections, set to be delivered in the context of a global pandemic.”
